[Psa 143:1] Hear And Answer Prayer
I am praying, blessèd Savior,
To be more and more like Thee;
I am praying that Thy Spirit
Like a dove may rest on me.Refrain
Thou Who knowest all my weakness,
Thou Who knowest all my care,
While I plead each precious promise,
Hear, oh, hear and answer prayer.I am praying, blessèd Savior,
For a faith so clear and bright
That its eye will see Thy glory
Through the deepest, darkest night.Refrain
I am praying to be humbled
By the power of grace divine,
To be clothed upon with meekness,
And to have no will but Thine.Refrain
I am praying, blessèd Savior,
And my constant prayer shall be
For a perfect consecration,
That shall make me more like Thee.Refrain

[Psa 143:1] Lord, Hear Me In Distress
Lord, hear me in distress, regard my suppliant cry,
And in Thy faithfulness and righteousness reply.
In judgment do not cause Thy servant to be tried;
Before Thy holy laws no man is justified.The enemy has sought my soul in dust to tread;
To darkness I am brought, forgotten as the dead.
My spirit, crushed with grief, is sad and overborne;
My heart finds no relief, but desolate I mourn.Recalling former days and all Thy wondrous deeds,
The memory of Thy ways to hope and comfort leads.
To Thee I stretch my hands, let me not plead in vain;
I wait as weary lands wait for refreshing rain.My failing spirit see, O Lord to me make haste;
Hide not Thy face from me, less bitter death I taste.
O let the morn return, let mercy light my day;
For Thee in faith I yearn, O guide me in the way.Lord, save me from my foe, to Thee for help I flee;
Teach me Thy way to know, I have no God but Thee.
By Thy good Spirit led from trouble and distress,
My erring feet shall tread the path of uprightness.O Lord, for Thy Name’s sake revive my fainting heart;
My soul from trouble take, for just and true Thou art.
Remove mine enemy, my cruel foes reward;
In mercy rescue me who am Thy servant, Lord.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 143:1] Unanswered Yet
Unanswered yet?
The prayers your lips have pleaded
In agony of heart these many years?
Does faith begin to fail, is hope departing,
And think you all in vain those falling tears?
Say not the Father hath not heard your prayer:
You shall have your desire, sometime, somewhere,
You shall have your desire, sometime, somewhere.Unanswered yet?
Though when you first presented
This one petition at the Father’s throne,
It seemed you could not wait the time of asking,
So urgent was your heart to make it known.
Though years have passed since then, do not despair;
The Lord will answer you, sometime, somewhere,
The Lord will answer you, sometime, somewhere.Unanswered yet?
Nay, do not say ungranted;
Perhaps your part is not yet wholly done;
The work began when first your prayer was uttered,
And God will finish what He has begun.
If you will keep the incense burning there,
His glory you shall see, sometime somewhere,
His glory you shall see, sometime somewhere.Unanswered yet?
Faith cannot be unanswered;
Her feet were firmly planted on the Rock;
Amid the wildest storm prayer stands undaunted,
Nor quail before the loudest thunder shock.
She knows Omnipotence has heard her prayer,
And cries, “It shall be done,” sometime, somewhere,
And cries, “It shall be done,” sometime, somewhere.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 143:2] O Lord, Turn Not Thy Face From Me
O Lord, turn not Thy face from me,
Who lie in woeful state,
Lamenting all my sinful life
Before Thy mercy-gate.A gate which opens wide to those
That do lament their sin;
Shut not that gate against me, Lord,
But let me enter in.And call me not to strict account
How I have sojourned here;
For then my guilty conscience knows
How vile I shall appear.So come I to Thy mercy gate,
Where mercy doth abound,
Requiring mercy for my sin
To heal my deadly wound.Mercy, good Lord, mercy I ask;
This is my humble prayer;
For mercy, Lord is all my suit,
O let Thy mercy spare.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 143:2] That Fearful Day
That fearful day, that day of speechless dread,
When Thou shalt come to judge the quick and dead—
I shudder to foresee,
O God! what then shall be!When Thou shalt come, angelic legions round,
With thousand thousands, and with trumpet sound,
Christ, grant me in the air
With saints to meet Thee there!Weep, O my soul, ere that great hour and day,
When God shall shine in manifest array,
Thy sin, that thou may’st be
In that strict judgment free!The terror! Hell-fire fierce and unsufficed:
The bitter worm: the gnashing teeth—O Christ,
Forgive, remit, protect;
And set me with the elect!That I may hear the blessèd voice that calls
The righteous to the joy of heavenly halls.
And, King of Heaven, may reach
The realm that passeth speech!
Enter Thou not in judgment with each deed,
Nor each intent and thought in strictness read:
Forgive, and save me then,
O Thou That lovest men!Thee, One in Three blest Persons! Lord o’er all!
Essence of essence, Power of power we call:
Save us, O Father, Son,
And Spirit, ever one!Play source: Cyberhymnal
