• [Psa 119:94] Peace, Doubting Heart!

  Peace, doubting heart! my God’s I am; Who formed me man, forbids my fear; The Lord hath called me by my name; The Lord protects, for ever near; His blood for me did once atone, And still He loves and guards His own. When passing through the watery deep, I ask in faith He promised aid, The waves all awful distance keep, And shrink from my devoted head; Fearless their violence I dare; They cannot harm, for God is there! To Him mine eye of faith I turn, And through the fire pursue my way; The fire forgets its power to burn, The lambent flames around me play; I own His power, accept the sign, And shout to prove the Savior mine. Still nigh me, O my Savior, stand! And guard in fierce temptation’s hour; Hide in the hollow of Thy hand, Show forth in me Thy saving power, Still be Thy arms my sure defense, Nor earth nor hell shall pluck me thence. Since Thou hast bid me come to Thee, Good as Thou art, and strong to save I’ll walk o’er life’s tempestuous sea, Upborne by the unyielding wave, Dauntless, though rocks of pride be near, And yawning whirlpools of despair. When darkness intercepts the skies, And sorrow’s waves around me roll, When high the storms of passion rise, And half o’erwhelm my sinking soul, My soul a sudden calm shall feel, And hear a whisper, “Peace; be still!” Though in affliction’s furnace tried, Unhurt on snares and death I’ll tread; Though sin assail, and hell, thrown wide, Pour all its flames upon my head, Like Moses’ bush, I’ll mount the higher, And flourish unconsumed in fire.

  Thine forever! God of love, Hear us from Thy throne above; Thine forever may we be Here and in eternity. Thine forever! Lord of life, Shield us through our earthly strife; Thou, the Life, the Truth, the Way, Guide us to the realms of day. Thine forever! O how blest They who find in Thee their rest! Savior, Guardian, heavenly Friend, O defend us to the end. Thine forever! Savior, keep These Thy frail and trembling sheep, Safe alone beneath Thy care, Let us all Thy goodness share. Thine forever in that day When the world shall pass away; When the trumpet note shall sound, And the nations underground Shall the awful summons hear, Which proclaims the judgment near. Thine forever, ’neath Thy wings Hide and save us, King of kings. Thine forever! Thou our Guide, All our wants by Thee supplied, All our sins by Thee forgiven, Lead us, Lord, from earth to Heaven.

• [Psa 119:117] At Thy Feet, O Christ

  At Thy feet, O Christ, we lay Thine own gift of this new day; Doubt of what it holds in store Makes us crave Thine aid the more; Lest it prove a time of loss, Mark, it Savior, with Thy Cross. If it flow on calm and bright, Be Thyself our chief Delight; If it bring unknown distress, Good is all that Thou canst bless; Only, while its hours begin, Pray we, keep them clear of sin. We in part our weakness know And in part discern our foe; Well for us, before Thine eyes All our danger open lies; Turn not from us, while we plead Thy compassions and our need. Fain would we Thy Word embrace, Live each moment on Thy grace, All our selves to Thee consign, Fold up all our wills in Thine, Think, and speak, and do, and be Simply that which pleases Thee. Hear us, Lord, and that right soon; Hear, and grant the choicest boon That Thy love can e’er impart, Loyal singleness of heart; So shall this and all our days, Christ and God, show forth Thy praise.
