• [Psa 119:71] O How I Love Thy Holy Word

  O How I love Thy holy Word, Thy gracious covenant, O Lord! It guides me in the peaceful way, I think upon it all the day. What are the mines of shining wealth, The strength of youth, the bloom of health! What are all joys compared with those Thine everlasting Word bestows! Long unafflicted, undismayed, In pleasures path secure I strayed; Thou mad’st me feel Thy chast’ning rod, And strait I turned unto my God. What though it pierced my fainting heart, I bless Thine hand that caused the smart; It taught my tears awhile to flow, But saved me from eternal woe. O! hadst Thou left me unchastised, Thy precept I had still despised; And still the snare in secret laid, Had my unwary feet betrayed. I love Thee therefore O my God, And breathe towards Thy dear abode; Where in Thy presence fully blest, Thy chosen saints forever rest.

• [Psa 119:94] Peace, Doubting Heart!

  Peace, doubting heart! my God’s I am; Who formed me man, forbids my fear; The Lord hath called me by my name; The Lord protects, for ever near; His blood for me did once atone, And still He loves and guards His own. When passing through the watery deep, I ask in faith He promised aid, The waves all awful distance keep, And shrink from my devoted head; Fearless their violence I dare; They cannot harm, for God is there! To Him mine eye of faith I turn, And through the fire pursue my way; The fire forgets its power to burn, The lambent flames around me play; I own His power, accept the sign, And shout to prove the Savior mine. Still nigh me, O my Savior, stand! And guard in fierce temptation’s hour; Hide in the hollow of Thy hand, Show forth in me Thy saving power, Still be Thy arms my sure defense, Nor earth nor hell shall pluck me thence. Since Thou hast bid me come to Thee, Good as Thou art, and strong to save I’ll walk o’er life’s tempestuous sea, Upborne by the unyielding wave, Dauntless, though rocks of pride be near, And yawning whirlpools of despair. When darkness intercepts the skies, And sorrow’s waves around me roll, When high the storms of passion rise, And half o’erwhelm my sinking soul, My soul a sudden calm shall feel, And hear a whisper, “Peace; be still!” Though in affliction’s furnace tried, Unhurt on snares and death I’ll tread; Though sin assail, and hell, thrown wide, Pour all its flames upon my head, Like Moses’ bush, I’ll mount the higher, And flourish unconsumed in fire.

  Thine forever! God of love, Hear us from Thy throne above; Thine forever may we be Here and in eternity. Thine forever! Lord of life, Shield us through our earthly strife; Thou, the Life, the Truth, the Way, Guide us to the realms of day. Thine forever! O how blest They who find in Thee their rest! Savior, Guardian, heavenly Friend, O defend us to the end. Thine forever! Savior, keep These Thy frail and trembling sheep, Safe alone beneath Thy care, Let us all Thy goodness share. • [Psa 119:162] The Highest Joy

  The highest joy that can be known To those who heav’nward wend— It is the Word of Life to own, And God to have as Friend; It is the Word of Life to own, And God to have as Friend. The Word doth give me wealth untold, All good it has in store; My deepest sorrows lose their hold To joys forevermore; My deepest sorrows loose their hold To joys forevermore.
