Psalms 119:11

Context

119:11 In my heart I store up 1  your words, 2

so I might not sin against you.

Psalms 119:103

Context

119:103 Your words are sweeter

in my mouth than honey! 3

Psalms 119:127

Context

119:127 For this reason 4  I love your commands

more than gold, even purest gold.

1 tn Or “hide.”

2 tn Heb “your word.” Some medieval Hebrew mss as well as the LXX read the plural, “your words.”

3 tn Heb “How smooth they are to my palate, your word, more than honey to my mouth.” A few medieval Hebrew mss, as well as several other ancient witnesses, read the plural “your words,” which can then be understood as the subject of the plural verb “they are smooth.”

4 tn “For this reason” connects logically with the statement made in v. 126. Because the judgment the psalmist fears (see vv. 119-120) is imminent, he remains loyal to God’s law.
