Psalms 107:23-32

• [Psa 107:23] O That The Race Of Men Would Raise

  O that the race of men would raise Their voices to their heav’nly King, And with the sacrifice of praise The glories of Jehovah sing! Ye navigators of the sea, Your course on ocean’s tides who keep, And there Jehovah’s wonders see, His wonders in the briny deep! He speaks; conflicting whirlwinds fly; The waves in swelling torrents flow; They mount, aspire to heaven on high; They sink, as if to hell below: Their souls with terror melt away; They stagger as if drunk with wine Their skill is vain, to Thee they pray; O, save them, Energy divine! He stays the storm; the waves subside; Their hearts with rapture are inspired; Soft breezes waft them o’er the tide, In gladness, to their port desired: O that mankind the song would raise, Jehovah’s goodness to proclaim! Assembled nations shout His praise, Assembled elders bless His Name!

• [Psa 107:23] They That Traffic On The Sea

  They that traffic on the sea, While unceasing watch they keep, See Jehovah’s majesty And His wonders in the deep; For He bids the storm-wind fly, Lifting ocean’s waves on high. By the billows heav’nward tossed, Down to dreadful depths again, Troubled much, their courage lost, Reeling, they like drunken men Find their skill and power o’erthrown; None can save but God alone. To Jehovah then they cry In their trouble, and He saves, Drives the darkness from the sky, Calms the storm and stills the waves, Makes their sad forebodings cease, To their haven guides in peace. Sons of men, awake to praise God the Lord Who reigns above, Gracious in His works and ways, Wondrous in redeeming love; Praise Him where the people meet, Praise Him in the elder’s seat.

• [Psa 107:29] Haven Of Rest, The

  My soul in sad exile was out on life’s sea, So burdened with sin and distressed, Till I heard a sweet voice, saying, “Make Me your choice”; And I entered the “Haven of Rest”! Refrain I’ve anchored my soul in the “Haven of Rest,” I’ll sail the wide seas no more; The tempest may sweep over wild, stormy, deep, In Jesus I’m safe evermore. I yielded myself to His tender embrace, In faith taking hold of the Word, My fetters fell off, and I anchored my soul; The “Haven of Rest” is my Lord. Refrain The song of my soul, since the Lord made me whole, Has been the old story so blest, Of Jesus, who’ll save whosoever will have A home in the “Haven of Rest.” Refrain How precious the thought that we all may recline, Like John, the belovèd so blest, On Jesus’ strong arm, where no tempest can harm, Secure in the “Haven of Rest.” Refrain O come to the Savior, He patiently waits To save by His power divine; Come, anchor your soul in the “Haven of Rest,” And say, “My Belovèd is mine.” Refrain

• [Psa 107:29] I Know Not If Or Dark Or Bright

  I know not if or dark or bright Shall be my lot; If that wherein my hopes delight Be best or not. It may be mine to drag for years Toil’s heavy chain, Or day and night my meat be tears On bed of pain. Dear faces may surround my health With smiles and glee, Or I may dwell alone, and mirth Be strange to me. My bark is wafted to the strand By breath divine, And on its helm there rests a hand Other than mine. One who was known in storms to sail I have on board; Above the roaring of the gale I hear my Lord. Safe to the land! safe to the land! The end is this, And then with Him go hand in hand, Far into bliss.

  One by one we’re passing over, One by one we cross the tide; Soon we’ll reach the peaceful harbor, Rest at last on Canaan’s side. Refrain Rest at last, when earth is past, Rest at last on Canaan’s shore; Rest at last, when earth is past, With our loved ones gone before. There in that bright land of beauty, With the loved ones gone before, We will meet in blest reunion, Meet again to part no more. Refrain Then dispel! thou darkening shadow!   Adrift on the waters, so dark and so cold, Afar from the beautiful city of gold, A vessel is sinking, for heavy the gale, The cable is broken, and tattered each sail. Refrain Poor child of the wreck, see the lifeboat is near, A sweet voice is heard, for the Master is here; He walks every billow, controls every wave, ’Tis Jesus, King Jesus, “the mighty to save.” Oh, I was the sinner alone on the sea, But love’s blessèd signal were floating for me; Though thunders were rolling, and billows at strife, Lo, Jesus was calling, “escape for thy life.” Refrain I stepped in the life boat, provided for me, And Jesus my Pilot, my Captain to be; His bosom my refuge, my “haven of rest.” I’m rescued from shipwreck, so happy and blest. Refrain Life’s turbulent surges are kissed into peace, The beacons are shining, and songs never cease; Fair moonbeams, bright sunshine, illumine the tide, While onward to glory we’ll joyfully glide. • [Psa 107:30] As Near The Wished For Port We Draw

  As near the wished for port we draw We lift our hearts in praise to Thee, Almighty Father, loving Lord, Our Pilot on the troubled sea. By Thy good care in peace we come, From fire and foe securely kept, And after tempest, at Thy word, The waves have laid them down and slept. As Thou hast giv’n us outward calm, So, Lord, within us may there be A peace divine, a peace in Him, Through Whom alone we live to Thee. Give us more light, direct our course, Cleanse us from guile, our hearts renew; Let not dark clouds of sin shut out The star of Jesus from our view. And then, our long life voyage o’er, And past the perils of the sea, Receive us on the blissful shore, To everlasting rest with Thee. To Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, The God Whom Heav’n and earth adore, Be glory as it was of old, Is now, and shall be evermore.
