• [Psa 30:6] Firm Was My Health

  Firm was my health, my day was bright, And I presumed ’twould ne’er be night; Fondly I said within my heart, “Pleasure and peace shall ne’er depart.” But I forgot Thine arm was strong Which made my mountain stand so long; Soon as Thy face began to hide, My health was gone, my comforts died. I cried aloud to Thee, my God, “What canst Thou profit by my blood? Deep in the dust can I declare Thy truth, or sing Thy goodness there? “Hear me, O God of grace,” I said, “And bring me from among the dead:” Thy Word rebuked the pains I felt, Thy pardoning love removed my guilt. My groans, and tears, and forms of woe Are turned to joy and praises now; I throw my sackcloth on the ground, And ease and gladness gird me round. My tongue, the glory of my frame, Shall ne’er be silent of Thy Name; Thy praise shall sound through earth and Heav’n, For sickness healed and sins forgiv’n.

• [Psa 16:8] I Set The Lord Before My Face

  I set the Lord before my face, He bears my courage up; My heart and tongue their joys express, My flesh shall rest in hope. My spirit, Lord, Thou wilt not leave Where souls departed are; Nor quit my body to the grave, To see corruption there. Thou wilt reveal the path of life, And raise me to Thy throne; Thy courts immortal pleasure give, Thy presence joys unknown. Thus, in the name of Christ, the Lord, The holy David sung; And Providence fulfills the word Of his prophetic tongue. Jesus, whom every saint adores, Was crucified and slain: Behold, the tomb its prey restores! Behold, He lives again! When shall my feet arise and stand On Heav’n’s eternal hills? There sits the Son at God’s right hand, And there the Father smiles.

• [Psa 55:22] Cast Thy Burden On The Lord

  Cast thy burden on the Lord, Only lean upon His Word; Thou wilt soon have cause to bless His eternal faithfulness. He sustains thee by His hand, He enables thee to stand; Those whom Jesus once hath loved From His grace are never moved. Human counsels come to naught; That shall stand which God hath wrought; His compassion, love, and power, Are the same forevermore. Heav’n and earth may pass away, God’s free grace shall not decay; He hath promised to fulfill All the pleasure of His will. Jesus, Guardian of Thy flock, Be Thyself our constant Rock; Make us, by Thy powerful hand, Strong as Zion’s mountain stand.

  When times of temptation bring sadness and gloom, I will tell it to Jesus my Lord; The last of earth’s treasures borne out to the tomb, I will tell it to Jesus my Lord.   If the world from you withhold of its silver and its gold, And you have to get along with meager fare, Just remember, in His Word, how He feeds the little bird; Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there.   Lord, what a change within us one short hour Spent in Thy presence will prevail to make; What heavy burdens from our bosoms take, What parchèd fields refresh as with a shower! We kneel, and all around us seems to lower; We rise, and all, the distant and the near, Stands forth in sunny outline, brave and clear; We kneel, how weak; we rise, how full of power.   Such as in God the Lord do trust As Mount Sion shall firmly stand, And be removèd at no hand, The Lord will count them right and just, So that they shall be sure Forever to endure.
