Numbers 4:4

Context
4:4 This is the service of the Kohathites in the tent of meeting, relating to the most holy things. 1

Numbers 5:9-10

Context
5:9 Every offering 2  of all the Israelites’ holy things that they bring to the priest will be his. 5:10 Every man’s holy things 3  will be his; whatever any man gives the priest will be his.’”

Numbers 35:29

Context
35:29 So these things must be a statutory ordinance 4  for you throughout your generations, in all the places where you live.

1 tn The Hebrew text simply has “the holy of holies,” or “the holy of the holy things” (קֹדֶשׁ הַקֳּדָשִׁים, qodesh haqqodashim). The context indicates that this refers to all the sacred furnishings.

2 tn The Hebrew word תְּרוּמָה (tÿrumah) seems to be a general word for any offering that goes to the priests (see J. Milgrom, Studies in Cultic Theology and Terminology [SJLA 36], 159-72).

3 sn The “holy gifts” are described with the root of קֹדֶשׁ (qodesh) to convey that they were separate. Such things had been taken out of the ordinary and normal activities of life.

4 tn Heb “a statute of judgment” (so KJV).
