Numbers 18:20

Context
Duties of the Levites

18:20 The Lord spoke to Aaron, “You will have no inheritance in their land, nor will you have any portion of property 1  among them – I am your portion and your inheritance among the Israelites.

Numbers 27:7

Context
27:7 “The daughters of Zelophehad have a valid claim. 2  You must indeed 3  give them possession of an inheritance among their father’s relatives, and you must transfer 4  the inheritance of their father to them.

Numbers 32:19

Context
32:19 For we will not accept any inheritance on the other side of the Jordan River 5  and beyond, because our inheritance has come to us on this eastern side of the Jordan.”

Numbers 36:2

Context
36:2 They said, “The Lord commanded my lord to give 6  the land as an inheritance by lot to the Israelites; and my lord was commanded by the Lord to give the inheritance of our brother Zelophehad to his daughters.

1 tn The phrase “of property” is supplied as a clarification.

2 tn Heb “[the daughters of Zelophehad] speak right” (using the participle דֹּבְרֹת [dovÿrot] with כֵּן [ken]).

3 tn The Hebrew text uses the infinitive absolute with the imperfect tense. The imperfect is functioning as the imperfect of instruction, and so the infinitive strengthens the force of the instruction.

4 tn The verb is the Hiphil perfect with a vav (ו) consecutive, from the root עָבַר (’avar, “to pass over”). Here it functions as the equivalent of the imperfect of instruction: “and you shall cause to pass,” meaning, “transfer.”

5 tn The word “River” is not in the Hebrew text, but has been supplied in the translation for clarity.

6 tn The infinitive construct “to give” serves here as the complement or object of the verb, answering what the Lord had commanded Moses.
