Numbers 14:6

14:6 And Joshua son of Nun and Caleb son of Jephunneh, two of those who had investigated the land, tore their garments.

Numbers 14:30

14:30 You will by no means enter into the land where 1  I swore 2  to settle 3  you. The only exceptions are Caleb son of Jephunneh and Joshua son of Nun.

2 tn The Hebrew text uses the anthropomorphic expression “I raised my hand” in taking an oath.

3 tn Heb “to cause you to dwell; to cause you to settle.”

4 tn The Hebrew text uses the preposition “from,” “some of” – “from those men.” The relative pronoun is added to make a smoother reading.

5 tn The first clause is subordinated to the second because both begin with the preterite verbal form, and there is clearly a logical and/or chronological sequence involved.
