Nehemiah 13:25

Context
13:25 So I entered a complaint with them. I called down a curse on them, and I struck some of the men and pulled out their hair. I had them swear by God saying, “You will not marry off 7  your daughters to their sons, and you will not take any of their daughters as wives for your sons or for yourselves!

1 tn Heb “my bosom.”

2 tn Heb “cause to stand.”

3 tn Heb “according to this word.”

4 tc The unexpected reference to Nehemiah here has led some scholars to suspect that the phrase “Nehemiah the governor” is a later addition to the text and not original.

5 tn Heb “the priest, the scribe.”

6 tn Heb “the people.” The pronoun has been used in the translation for stylistic reasons, to avoid redundancy.

7 tn Heb “give.”
