Nehemiah 4:14

4:14 When I had made an inspection, 1  I stood up and said to the nobles, the officials, and the rest of the people, “Don’t be afraid of them. Remember the great and awesome Lord, 2  and fight on behalf of your brothers, your sons, your daughters, your wives, and your families!” 3 

Nehemiah 9:28

Context

9:28 “Then, when they were at rest again, they went back to doing evil before you. Then you abandoned them to 4  their enemies, and they gained dominion over them. When they again cried out to you, in your compassion you heard from heaven and rescued them time and again.

Nehemiah 10:28

Context

10:28 “Now the rest of the people – the priests, the Levites, the gatekeepers, the singers, the temple attendants, and all those who have separated themselves from the neighboring peoples 5  because of the law of God, along with their wives, their sons, and their daughters, all of whom are able to understand –

1 tn Heb “And I saw.”

2 tn The Hebrew term translated “Lord” here is אֲדֹנָי (’adonay).

3 tn Heb “houses.”

4 tn Heb “in the hand of” (so KJV, ASV); NAB “to the power of.”

5 tn Heb “from the peoples of the lands.” Cf. vv. 30, 31.
