Micah 2:11

Context

2:11 If a lying windbag should come and say, 1

‘I’ll promise you blessings of wine and beer,’ 2

he would be just the right preacher for these people! 3

Micah 7:16

Context

7:16 Nations will see this and be disappointed by 4  all their strength,

they will put their hands over their mouths,

and act as if they were deaf. 5

1 tn Heb “if a man, coming [as] wind and falsehood, should lie”; NASB “walking after wind and falsehood”; NIV “a liar and a deceiver.”

2 tn Heb “I will foam at the mouth concerning wine and beer.”

3 tn Heb “he would be the foamer at the mouth for this people.”

4 tn Or “be ashamed of.”

5 tn Heb “and their ears will be deaf.” Apparently this means the opposing nations will be left dumbfounded by the Lord’s power. Their inability to respond will make them appear to be deaf mutes.
