Matthew 9:33

Context
9:33 After the demon was cast out, the man who had been mute spoke. The crowds were amazed and said, “Never has anything like this been seen in Israel!”

Matthew 12:34

Context
12:34 Offspring of vipers! How are you able to say anything good, since you are evil? For the mouth speaks from what fills the heart.

Matthew 21:3

Context
21:3 If anyone says anything to you, you are to say, ‘The Lord needs them,’ 1  and he will send them at once.”

Matthew 24:21

Context
24:21 For then there will be great suffering 2  unlike anything that has happened 3  from the beginning of the world until now, or ever will happen.

1 sn The custom called angaria allowed the impressment of animals for service to a significant figure.

2 tn Traditionally, “great tribulation.”

3 sn Suffering unlike anything that has happened. Some refer this event to the destruction of Jerusalem in a.d. 70. While the events of a.d. 70 may reflect somewhat the comments Jesus makes here, the reference to the scope and severity of this judgment strongly suggest that much more is in view. Most likely Jesus is referring to the great end-time judgment on Jerusalem in the great tribulation.
