tn Grk “Therefore in.” Here οὖν (oun) has not been translated.

tn This is a generic use of ἄνθρωπος (anqrwpo"), referring to both males and females.

sn Jesus’ teaching as reflected in the phrase treat others as you would want them to treat you, known generally as the Golden Rule, is not completely unique in the ancient world, but here it is stated in its most emphatic, selfless form.

 tn Grk “is.”

tn Grk “and all the crowd.” The clause in this phrase, although coordinate in terms of grammar, is logically subordinate to the previous clause.

tn Grk “Then answering, Peter said.” This construction is somewhat redundant in contemporary English and has been simplified in the translation.

sn Peter wants reassurance that the disciples’ response and sacrifice have been noticed.

tn Grk “We have left everything and followed you.” Koine Greek often used paratactic structure when hypotactic was implied.

tn Grk “Now the.” Here δέ (de) has not been translated.

sn See the note on the word centurion in Matt 8:5.
