  Come, Holy Spirit, Dove divine, Display Thy glorious grace; Unfold the truth, that it may shine, And show the Savior’s face. Dark error’s cloud from us remove, Which intercepts the light; And give us wisdom still to prove God’s way alone is right. Touch our dull ears with healing power, That we the Lord may hear, And in this glad, this holy hour, May yield Him perfect fear. Within us let His image grow, His will our wills control, Nor other master let us know Of life, or heart, or soul. Make Thou the path of duty plain, Nor from it let us stray; And more may we Christ’s Spirit gain, In service, day by day; That we our mission may fulfill, Our faithful witness give, And seeking ever but His will, May to His glory live. Come, Holy Spirit, come, O come! Perform Thy work of grace; Make our poor hearts Thine honored home, Thy chosen dwelling place. And kindle there love’s heavenly fire, A purifying flame, Consuming every wrong desire, And purging sin’s deep shame.

  The Son of Man from Jordan rose, And prayed to God above; When lo, the opening heav’ns disclose A swift descending Dove. The Spirit, lighting on His brow, Anoints the Holy One; The Father’s voice declaring, “Thou Art My belovèd Son.” So when, through His baptizing blessed The Font new birth conveys, Man kneels a son of God confessed, Heav’n opens as he prays. Fair innocency, like the dove’s, Invests him, purged from sin; For God the brooding Spirit moves, Directs and rules within. O Christ, whose mercy cleansed our stain With streams of grace divine, Let us not soil the robes again Made white in blood of Thine. Redeemer of a world undone, We praise Thee and adore, Jesu, with God the Father One, And Spirit evermore.

• [Mat 8:26] I Feel The Winds Of God Today

  I feel the winds of God today; today my sail I lift, Though heavy, oft with drenching spray, and torn with many a rift; If hope but light the water’s crest, and Christ my bark will use, I’ll seek the seas at His behest, and brave another cruise. It is the wind of God that dries my vain regretful tears, Until with braver thoughts shall rise the purer, brighter years; If cast on shores of selfish ease or pleasure I should be; Lord, let me feel Thy freshening breeze, and I’ll put back to sea. If ever I forget Thy love and how that love was shown, Lift high the blood red flag above; it bears Thy Name alone. Great Pilot of my onward way, Thou wilt not let me drift; I feel the winds of God today, today my sail I lift.

  As Jonah, issuing from his three days’ tomb, At length was cast, uninjured, on the earth; So, from the virgin’s unpolluted womb Th’incarnate Word, That dwelt there, had His birth: For He, who knew no taint of mortal stain, Willed that His mother spotless should remain. Christ comes, incarnate God, amongst us now, Begotten of the Father ere the day: And He, to Whom the sinless legions bow, Lies cradled, ’midst unconscious beasts on hay: And, by His homely swaddling-bands girt in, Looses the many fetters of our sin. Now the new Child of Adam’s race draws nigh, To us, the faithful, giv’n: This, this is He That shall the Father of eternity, The Angel of the Mighty Counsel, be: This the eternal God, by Whose strong hands The fabric of the world supported stands.
