Matthew 2:20

2:20 saying, “Get up, take the child and his mother, and go to the land of Israel, for those who were seeking the child’s life are dead.”

Matthew 11:5

Context
11:5 The blind see, the 1  lame walk, lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the poor have good news proclaimed to them.

Matthew 17:9

Context

17:9 As they were coming down from the mountain, Jesus commanded them, 2  “Do not tell anyone about the vision until the Son of Man is raised from the dead.”

Matthew 22:32

Context
22:32I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? 3  He is not the God of the dead but of the living!” 4

1 tn Grk “and the,” but καί (kai) has not been translated since English normally uses a coordinating conjunction only between the last two elements in a series of three or more. Two other conjunctions are omitted in this series.

2 tn Grk “Jesus commanded them, saying.” The participle λέγων (legwn) is redundant and has not been translated.

3 sn A quotation from Exod 3:6.

4 sn He is not God of the dead but of the living. Jesus’ point was that if God could identify himself as God of the three old patriarchs, then they must still be alive when God spoke to Moses; and so they must be raised.
