Matthew 13:17

Context
13:17 For I tell you the truth, 1  many prophets and righteous people longed to see 2  what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it.

Matthew 21:32

Context
21:32 For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him. But the tax collectors and prostitutes did believe. Although 3  you saw this, you did not later change your minds 4  and believe him.

Matthew 24:26

Context
24:26 So then, if someone 5  says to you, ‘Look, he is in the wilderness,’ 6  do not go out, or ‘Look, he is in the inner rooms,’ do not believe him.

Matthew 25:24

Context
25:24 Then the one who had received the one talent came and said, ‘Sir, I knew that you were a hard man, harvesting where you did not sow, and gathering where you did not scatter seed,

Matthew 25:45

Context
25:45 Then he will answer them, 7  ‘I tell you the truth, 8  just as you did not do it for one of the least of these, you did not do it for me.’

1 tn Grk “truly (ἀμήν, amhn) I say to you.”

2 sn This is what past prophets and righteous people had wanted very much to see, yet the fulfillment had come to the disciples. This remark is like 1 Pet 1:10-12 or Heb 1:1-2.

3 tn Here δέ (de) has not been translated.

4 sn The word translated change your minds is the same verb used in v. 29 (there translated had a change of heart). Jesus is making an obvious comparison here, in which the religious leaders are viewed as the disobedient son.

5 tn Grk “they say.” The third person plural is used here as an indefinite and translated “someone” (ExSyn 402).

6 tn Or “in the desert.”

7 tn Grk “answer them, saying.” The participle λέγων (legwn) is redundant in contemporary English and has not been translated.

8 tn Grk “Truly (ἀμήν, amhn), I say to you.”
