Matthew 10:14

Context
10:14 And if anyone will not welcome you or listen to your message, shake the dust off 1  your feet as you leave that house or that town.

Matthew 25:16

Context
25:16 The one who had received five talents went off right away and put his money to work 2  and gained five more.

Matthew 26:51

Context
26:51 But 3  one of those with Jesus grabbed 4  his sword, drew it out, and struck the high priest’s slave, 5  cutting off his ear.

1 sn To shake the dust off represented shaking off the uncleanness from one’s feet; see Luke 10:11; Acts 13:51; 18:6. It was a sign of rejection.

2 tn Grk “traded with them.”

3 tn Grk “And behold one.” The Greek word ἰδού (idou) has not been translated because it has no exact English equivalent here, but adds interest and emphasis (BDAG 468 s.v. 1).

4 tn Grk “extending his hand, drew out his sword, and struck.” Because rapid motion is implied in the circumstances, the translation “grabbed” was used.

5 tn See the note on the word “slave” in 8:9.
