[Mar 8:34] Carry Your Cross With A Smile
Tho’ your heart may be heavy with sorrow and care,
You may others to gladness beguile,
If a face like the light of the morning you wear,
And carry your cross with a smile!Refrain
Carry your cross with a smile,
Carry your cross with a smile;
You may others from sadness to gladness beguile,
If you carry your cross with a smile.Let the well by the wayside that flows unto all
Strength impart for each step of the mile;
Let your faith the great promises often recall,
And carry your cross with a smile!Refrain
For the work that you faithfully, willingly do,
You shall reap a reward after while;
Only grace in your service can glorify you,
So carry your cross with a smile!Refrain

[Mar 8:34] Cross Is Not Greater, The
The cross that He gave may be heavy,
But it ne’er outweighs His grace;
The storm that I feared may surround me,
But it ne’er excludes His face.Refrain
The cross is not greater than His grace,
The storm cannot hide His blessèd face;
I am satisfied to know
That with Jesus here below,
I can conquer every foe.The thorns in my path are not sharper
Than composed His crown for me;
The cup that I drink not more bitter
Than He drank in Gethsemane.Refrain
The light of His love shineth brighter,
As it falls on paths of woe;
The toil of my work groweth lighter,
As I stoop to raise the low.Refrain
His will have I joy in fulfilling,
As I’m walking in His sight;
My all to the blood I am bringing,
It alone can keep me right.Refrain

[Mar 8:34] Cross Of My Redeemer, The
On Calvary’s distant mountain
The cross of faith I see,
Where once the Lord of glory
Was crucified for me.Refrain
The cross of my Redeemer,
O may I still defend,
And through the grace He giveth
Be faithful to the end.As on that cross extended,
He suffered, bled and died,
To sinful thoughts and pleasures
May I be crucified.Refrain
He bore that cross with patience;
Through sorrow dark and sin,
He bids me now, believing,
Take up my cross for Him.Refrain
Had I no foes to conquer
No cross on earth to bear,
A victor’s crown of triumph,
I could not hope to wear.Refrain

[Mar 8:34] For Man The Savior Shed
For man the Savior shed
His all atoning blood,
And, oh, shall ransomed man refuse
To suffer for his God?Ashamed who now can be
To own the Crucified?
Nay, rather be our glory this,
To die for Him Who died?So felt Thy martyr, Lord;
By Thy right hand sustained,
He waged for Thee the battle’s strife,
And threatened death disdained.Upon the golden crown
Gazing with eager breath,
He fought as one who fain would die,
And, dying, conquer death.Alone he stood unmoved
Amid his cruel foes;
Oh, wondrous was the might that then
Above his torturers rose!Lord, give us grace to bear
Like him our cross of shame,
To do and suffer what Thou wilt,
For love of Thy dear Name.Jesu, the King of saints,
We praise Thee and adore,
Who art, with God the Father One
And Spirit evermore.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Mar 8:34] Take Up Thy Cross (ackley)
I walked one day along a country road,
And there a stranger journeyed, too,
Bent low beneath the burden of His load:
It was a cross, a cross I knew.Refrain
“Take up thy cross and follow Me.”
I hear the blessèd Savior call;
How can I make a lesser sacrifice,
When Jesus gave His all?I cried, “Lord Jesus,” and He spoke my name;
I saw His hands all bruised and torn;
I stooped to kiss away the marks of shame,
The shame for me that He had borne.Refrain
“O let me bear Thy cross, dear Lord,” I cried,
And lo, a cross for me appeared,
The one forgotten I had cast aside,
The one, so long, that I had feared.Refrain
My cross I’ll carry till the crown appears,
The way I journey soon will end
Where God Himself shall wipe away all tears,
And friend hold fellowship with friend.source: Cyberhymnal -
[Mar 8:34] Where He Leads Me
I can hear my Savior calling,
I can hear my Savior calling,
I can hear my Savior calling,
“Take thy cross and follow, follow Me.”Refrain
Where He leads me I will follow,
Where He leads me I will follow,
Where He leads me I will follow;
I’ll go with Him, with Him, all the way.I’ll go with Him through the garden,
I’ll go with Him through the garden,
I’ll go with Him through the garden,
I’ll go with Him, with Him all the way.Refrain
I’ll go with Him through the judgment,
I’ll go with Him through the judgment,
I’ll go with Him through the judgment,
I’ll go with Him, with Him all the way.Refrain
He will give me grace and glory,
He will give me grace and glory,
He will give me grace and glory,
And go with me, with me all the way.Refrain

[Mar 8:34] Where The Savior Leads
If in the valley where the bright waters flow,
Jesus, my Savior leads me, gladly I’ll go;
If, by His hand directed o’er ocean’s wave,
Gladly I’ll bear His message, lost ones to save.Refrain
Where the Savior leads me,
I will gladly follow,
Where the loving Savior leads me,
I will gladly go.Out on the barren mountains, dreary and cold,
Seeking the sheep that wander far from the fold;
Storm clouds may frown above me, fierce winds may blow,
Yet, if my Savior leads me, onward I’ll go.Refrain
Where’er the Savior leads me, I’ll follow still,
Patient in joy or sorrow, biding His will;
He knows the path of safety, He knows the way,
Home to the many mansions, bright, bright as day.Refrain

[Mar 8:34] Who Will Suffer With The Savior?
Who will suffer with the Savior,
Take the little that remains
Of the cup of tribulation
Jesus drank in dying pain?Refrain
Lord, we fellowship Thy passion,
Gladly suffer shame and loss;
With Thy blessing pain is pleasure,
We will glory in Thy cross.Who will offer soul and body
On the altar of our God?
Leaving self and worldly mammon,
Take the path that Jesus trod?Refrain
O for consecrated service
’Mid the din of Babel strife!
Who will dare the truth to herald
At the peril of his life?Refrain
Soon the conflict will be over,
Crowns await the firm and pure;
Forward, brethren, work and suffer,
Faithful to the end endure.Refrain

[Mar 8:36] If I Gained The World
If I gained the world, but lost the Savior,
Were my life worth living for a day?
Could my yearning heart find rest and comfort
In the things that soon must pass away?
If I gained the world, but lost the Savior,
Would my gain be worth the lifelong strife?
Are all earthly pleasures worth comparing
For a moment with a Christ-filled life?Had I wealth and love in fullest measure,
And a name revered both far and near,
Yet no hope beyond, no harbor waiting,
Where my storm-tossed vessel I could steer;
If I gained the world, but lost the Savior,
Who endured the cross and died for me,
Could then all the world afford a refuge,
Whither, in my anguish, I might flee?O what emptiness!—without the Savior
’Mid the sins and sorrows here below!
And eternity, how dark without Him!
Only night and tears and endless woe!
What, though I might live without the Savior,
When I come to die, how would it be?
O to face the valley’s gloom without Him!
And without Him all eternity!O the joy of having all in Jesus!
What a balm the broken heart to heal!
Ne’er a sin so great, but He’ll forgive it,
Nor a sorrow that He does not feel!
If I have but Jesus, only Jesus,
Nothing else in all the world beside—
O then everything is mine in Jesus;
For my needs and more He will provide.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Mar 8:36] Take The World, But Give Me Jesus
Take the world, but give me Jesus,
All its joys are but a name;
But His love abideth ever,
Through eternal years the same.Refrain
Oh, the height and depth of mercy!
Oh, the length and breadth of love!
Oh, the fullness of redemption,
Pledge of endless life above!Take the world, but give me Jesus,
Sweetest comfort of my soul;
With my Savior watching o’er me,
I can sing though billows roll.Refrain
Take the world, but give me Jesus,
Let me view His constant smile;
Then throughout my pilgrim journey
Light will cheer me all the while.Refrain
Take the world, but give me Jesus.
In His cross my trust shall be,
Till, with clearer, brighter vision,
Face to face my Lord I see.Refrain

[Mar 8:38] Jesus, And Shall It Ever Be
Jesus, and shall it ever be,
A mortal man, ashamed of Thee?
Ashamed of Thee, whom angels praise,
Whose glories shine through endless days?Ashamed of Jesus! sooner far
Let night disown each radiant star!
’Tis midnight with my soul, till He,
Bright Morning Star, bid darkness flee.Ashamed of Jesus! O as soon
Let morning blush to own the sun!
He sheds the beams of light divine
O’er this benighted soul of mine.Ashamed of Jesus! that dear Friend
On Whom my hopes of Heav’n depend!
No; when I blush, be this my shame,
That I no more revere His Name.Ashamed of Jesus! yes, I may
When I’ve no guilt to wash away;
No tear to wipe, no good to crave,
No fears to quell, no soul to save.Ashamed of Jesus! empty pride!
I’ll boast a Savior crucified,
And O may this my portion be,
My Savior not ashamed of me!Jesus! and shall it ever be!
A mortal man ashamed of Thee?
Scorn’d be the thought by rich and poor;
O may I scorn it more and more!Ashamed of Jesus! sooner far
Let evening blush to own a star.
Ashamed of Jesus! just as soon
Let midnight blush to think of noon.’Tis evening with my soul till He,
That Morning Star, bids darkness flee;
He sheds the beam of noon divine
O’er all this midnight soul of mine.Ashamed of Jesus! shall yon field
Blush when it think who bids it yield?
Yet blush I must, while I adore,
I blush to think I yield no more.Ashamed of Jesus! of that Friend
On whom for heaven my hopes depend!
It must not be! be this my shame,
That I no more revere His name.Ashamed of Jesus! yes, I may,
When I’ve no crimes to wash away;
No tear to wipe, no joy to crave,
No fears to quell, no soul to save.Till then (nor is the boasting vain),
Till then I boast a Saviour slain:
And, oh, may this my portion be,
That Saviour not ashamed of me!Play source: Cyberhymnal
