1 tn Grk “except they wash the hands with a fist,” a ceremonial washing (though the actual method is uncertain).

3 tn Here καί (kai) has been translated as “so” to indicate the implied sequence of events within the narrative.

4 tn Grk “he”; the referent (Jesus) has been specified in the translation for clarity.
