Mark 6:34-35

Context
6:34 As Jesus 1  came ashore 2  he saw the large crowd and he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. So 3  he taught them many things.

6:35 When it was already late, his disciples came to him and said, “This is an isolated place 4  and it is already very late.

1 tn Grk “he”; the referent (Jesus) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

2 tn Grk “came out [of the boat],” with the reference to the boat understood.

3 tn Grk “And.” Here καί (kai) has been translated as “So” to indicate this action is the result of Jesus’ compassion on the crowd in the narrative.

4 tn Or “a desert” (meaning a deserted or desolate area with sparse vegetation).
