Mark 1:15

Context
1:15 He 1  said, “The time is fulfilled and the kingdom of God 2  is near. Repent and believe the gospel!”

Mark 10:15

Context
10:15 I tell you the truth, 3  whoever does not receive 4  the kingdom of God like a child 5  will never 6  enter it.”

1 tn Because of the length and complexity of the Greek sentence, a new sentence was started here in the translation.

2 sn The kingdom of God is a reference to the sovereign activity of God as he rules over his creation and brings his plans to realization.

3 tn Grk “Truly (ἀμήν, amhn), I say to you.”

4 sn On receive see John 1:12.

5 sn The point of the comparison receive the kingdom of God like a child has more to do with a child’s trusting spirit and willingness to be dependent and receive from others than any inherent humility the child might possess.

6 tn The negation in Greek (οὐ μή, ou mh) is very strong here.
