Luke 9:32

Context
9:32 Now Peter and those with him were quite sleepy, 1  but as they became fully awake, 2  they saw his glory and the two men standing with him.

Luke 21:28

Context
21:28 But when these things 3  begin to happen, stand up and raise your heads, because your redemption 4  is drawing near.”

1 tn Grk “weighed down with sleep” (an idiom).

2 tn Or “after they became fully awake,” “but they became fully awake and saw.”

3 sn These things are all the events of vv. 8-27. Disciples represent the righteous here. The events surrounding the fall of the nation are a down payment on a fuller judgment to come on all humanity. The presence of one guarantees the other.

4 sn With Jesus’ return comes the manifestation of judgment and final salvation (redemption).
