Luke 18:5

Context
18:5 yet because this widow keeps on bothering me, I will give her justice, or in the end she will wear me out 1  by her unending pleas.’” 2

Luke 21:2

Context
21:2 He also saw a poor widow put in two small copper coins. 3

1 tn The term ὑπωπιάζω (Jupwpiazw) in this context means “to wear someone out by continual annoying” (L&N 25.245).

2 tn Grk “by her continual coming,” but the point of annoyance to the judge is her constant pleas for justice (v. 3).

3 sn These two small copper coins were lepta (sing. “lepton”), the smallest and least valuable coins in circulation in Palestine, worth one-half of a quadrans or 1/128 of a denarius, or about six minutes of an average daily wage. This was next to nothing in value.
