Luke 23:18

Context

23:18 But they all shouted out together, 4  “Take this man 5  away! Release Barabbas for us!”

1 tn Grk “at the same place.” According to L&N 46.16, this refers to a hand mill normally operated by two women.

2 tn Here δέ (de) has been translated as “then” to indicate the implied sequence of events within the narrative.

3 tn Grk “and the,” but καί (kai) has not been translated since English normally uses a coordinating conjunction only between the last two elements in a series of three or more.

4 tn Grk “together, saying.” The participle λέγοντες (legontes) is redundant and has not been translated here.

5 tn Grk “this one.” The reference to Jesus as “this man” is pejorative in this context.
