Luke 13:2

Context13:2 He 1 answered them, “Do you think these Galileans were worse sinners 2 than all the other Galileans, because they suffered these things?
Luke 21:7
Context21:7 So 3 they asked him, 4 “Teacher, when will these things 5 happen? And what will be the sign that 6 these things are about to take place?”
1 tn Grk “And he.” Here καί (kai) has been translated as “now” to indicate the transition to a new topic.
2 sn Jesus did not want his hearers to think that tragedy was necessarily a judgment on these people because they were worse sinners.
3 tn Here δέ (de) has been translated as “so” to indicate the implied result of Jesus’ comments about the temple’s future destruction.
4 tn Grk “asked him, saying.” The participle λέγοντες (legontes) is redundant in English and has not been translated.
5 sn Both references to these things are plural, so more than the temple’s destruction is in view. The question may presuppose that such a catastrophe signals the end.
6 tn Grk “when.”
