  Consider the lilies—how stately they grow! They toil not, they spin not, no seed do they sow; Yet they bloom all the summer, so shining and tall, The Father Who loves them takes thought for them all. Consider the ravens—who gives them their food? Who shelters their nest in the storm beaten wood? Who guides the young sparrow? who watches its fall? Their Father in Heaven takes heed for them all. Our Father in Heaven, Thy children on earth Than lilies or ravens Thou holdest more worth: O guide us and guard us, be near when we call, Uphold us, enfold us—we thank Thee for all!

  Long ago the lilies faded Which to Jesus seemed so fair, But the love that bade them blossom Still is working everywhere. In the fields, and in the valleys, By the streams we love so well, There is greater glory blooming, Than the tongue of man can tell. Long ago in sacred silence Died the accents of His prayer; Still the souls that seek the Father Find His presence everywhere. Let us seek Him, still believing, He that worketh round us yet, Clothing lilies in the meadows, Will His children ne’er forget.

  We thank Thee, O our Father, For all Thy loving care; We thank Thee that Thou madest The world so bright and fair. We thank Thee for the sunshine, And for the pleasant showers; And O, our God, we thank Thee, We thank Thee for the flowers. Out in the sunny meadows And in the woodlands cool, Upon the breezy hillside, And by each reedy pool, And in the quiet pasture, And by the broad highways, All pure, and fresh, and stainless, They spring up every day. And in the dusty city, Where busy crowds pass by, And where the tall dark houses Stand up and hide the sky; And where through lanes and alleys No pleasant breezes blow, Even there, O God, our Father, Thou mak’st the flowers grow. And whether in the city Or in the fields they dwell Always the same sweet message, The fair, sweet flowers tell. • [Luk 24:49] Baptize Us Anew

  Baptize us anew With power from on high, With love, O refresh us! Dear Savior, draw nigh. Refrain We humbly beseech Thee, Lord Jesus, we pray, With love and the Spirit Baptize us today. Unworthy we cry, Unholy, unclean, O wash us and cleanse us From sin’s guilty stain. Refrain O heavenly Dove, Descend from on high! We plead Thy rich blessing; In mercy draw nigh. Refrain O list the glad voice! From Heaven it came: “Thou art My Belovèd, Well pleasèd I am.” We praise thee, we bless Thee, Dear Lamb that was slain, We laud and adore Thee, Amen and Amen.

• [Luk 24:49] Faith Is A Living Power From Heaven

  Faith is a living power from Heaven That grasps the promise God hath given, A trust that cannot be o’erthrown, Fixed heartily on Christ alone. Faith finds in Christ whate’er we need To save or strengthen us indeed, Receives the grace He sends us down, And makes us share His cross and crown. Faith in the conscience worketh peace, And bids the mourner’s weeping cease; By faith the children’s place we claim, And give all honor to one Name. Faith feels the Spirit’s kindling breath In love and hope that conquer death; Faith worketh hourly joy in God, And trusts and blesses e’en the rod. We thank Thee then, O God of Heaven, That Thou to us this faith hast given In Jesus Christ Thy Son, who is Our only fount and source of bliss. And from His fullness grant each soul The rightful faith’s true end and goal, The blessedness no foes destroy, Eternal love and light and joy.

  Holy Spirit, hear us On this sacred day; Come to us with blessing, Come with us to stay. Come as once Thou camest To the faithful few Patiently awaiting Jesus’ promise true. Up to Heav’n ascending, Our dear Lord has gone; Yet His little children Leaves He not alone. To His blessèd promise Now in faith we cling. Comforter, most holy, Spread o’er us Thy wing. Lighten Thou our darkness, Be Thyself our Light; Strengthen Thou our weakness, Spirit of all might. Spirit of Adoption, Make us overflow With Thy sevenfold blessing And in grace to grow.
