Luke 1:65

Context
1:65 All 1  their neighbors were filled with fear, and throughout the entire hill country of Judea all these things were talked about.

Luke 23:5

Context
23:5 But they persisted 2  in saying, “He incites 3  the people by teaching throughout all Judea. It started in Galilee and ended up here!” 4

1 tn Grk “And all.” Here καί (kai) has not been translated because of differences between Greek and English style.

sn Fear is the emotion that comes when one recognizes something unusual, even supernatural, has taken place.

2 tn Or “were adamant.” For “persisted in saying,” see L&N 68.71.

3 sn He incites the people. The Jewish leadership claimed that Jesus was a political threat and had to be stopped. By reiterating this charge of stirring up rebellion, they pressured Pilate to act, or be accused of overlooking political threats to Rome.

4 tn Grk “beginning from Galilee until here.”
