Luke 5:31

• [Luk 5:31] Jesus Christ, Our Blessed Savior

  Jesus Christ, our blessèd Savior, Turned away God’s wrath forever; By His bitter grief and woe He saved us from the evil Foe. As His pledge of love undying He, this precious food supplying, Gives His body with the bread And with the wine the blood He shed. Whoso to this board repaireth May take heed how he prepareth; For if he does not believe, Then death for life he shall receive. Praise the Father, who from Heaven Unto us such food hath given And, to mend what we have done, Gave into death His only Son. Thou shalt hold with faith unshaken That this food is to be taken By the sick who are distressed, By hearts that long for peace and rest. Christ says, “Come, all ye that labor, And receive My grace and favor; They who feel no want nor ill Need no physician’s help nor skill. “Useless were for thee My Passion If thy works thy weal could fashion. This feast is not spread for thee If thine own savior thou wilt be.” If thy heart this truth professes, And thy mouth thy sin confesses, His dear guest thou here shalt be, And Christ Himself shall banquet thee.

Luke 9:20

• [Luk 9:20] O Thou Eternal Christ Of God

  O Thou eternal Christ of God, ride on, ride on, ride on! Establish Thou forevermore the triumph now begun. A mighty host, by Thee redeemed, is marching in Thy train, Thine is the kingdom and the power, and Thou in love shalt reign. O Holy Savior of mankind, ride on, ride on, ride on! We bear with Thee the scourge and cross if so Thy will is done. And be the road uphill or down, unbroken or well trod, We go with Thee to claim and build a city unto God. O Thou Whose dreams enthrall the heart, ride on, ride on, ride on! Ride on till tyranny and greed are evermore undone. In mart and court and parliament the common good increase, Till men at last shall ring the bells of brotherhood and peace. O Thou Who art the Life and Light, exalted Lord and King, We hail Thine august majesty and loud hosanna sing, Until in every land and clime Thine ends of love are won: O Christ, Redeemer, Brother, Friend, ride on, ride on, ride on!

  Fear not, thou faithful Christian flock; God is thy shelter and thy rock; Fear not for thy salvation. Though fierce the foe and dark the night, The Lord of hosts shall be thy might, Christ thine illumination. Arise, arise, the foe defy! Call on the Name of God most high, That He with might endue you. And Christ, your everlasting Priest, In all your conflicts shall assist, From strength to strength renew you.
