Leviticus 6:17

Context
6:17 It must not be baked with yeast. 1  I have given it as their portion from my gifts. It is most holy, 2  like the sin offering and the guilt offering.

Leviticus 20:3

Context
20:3 I myself will set my face 3  against that man and cut him off from the midst of his people, 4  because he has given some of his children to Molech and thereby defiled my sanctuary and profaned my holy name. 5

Leviticus 26:25

Context
26:25 I will bring on you an avenging sword, a covenant vengeance. 6  Although 7  you will gather together into your cities, I will send pestilence among you and you will be given into enemy hands. 8

1 tn Heb “It must not be baked leavened” (cf. Lev 2:11). The noun “leaven” is traditional in English versions (cf. KJV, ASV, NASB, NRSV), but “yeast” is more commonly used today.

2 tn Heb “holiness of holinesses [or holy of holies] it is”; cf. NAB “most sacred.”

3 tn Heb “And I, I shall give my faces.”

4 sn On the “cut off” penalty see the notes on Lev 7:20 and 17:4.

5 tn Heb “for the sake of defiling my sanctuary and to profane my holy name.”

6 tn Heb “vengeance of covenant”; cf. NAB “the avenger of my covenant.”

7 tn Heb “and.” The Hebrew conjunction ו (vav, “and”) has a concessive force in this context.

8 tn Heb “in hand of enemy,” but Tg. Ps.-J. and Tg. Neof. have “in the hands of your enemies” (J. E. Hartley, Leviticus [WBC], 454).
