Leviticus 11:4

Context
11:4 However, you must not eat these 1  from among those that chew the cud and have divided hooves: The camel is unclean to you 2  because it chews the cud 3  even though its hoof is not divided. 4

Leviticus 26:37

Context
26:37 They will stumble over each other as those who flee before a sword, though 5  there is no pursuer, and there will be no one to take a stand 6  for you before your enemies.

1 tn Heb “this,” but as a collective plural (see the following context).

2 sn Regarding “clean” versus “unclean,” see the note on Lev 10:10.

3 tn Heb “because a chewer of the cud it is” (see also vv. 5 and 6).

4 tn Heb “and hoof there is not dividing” (see also vv. 5 and 6).

5 tn Heb “and.” The Hebrew conjunction ו (vav, “and”) is used in a concessive sense here.

6 tn The term rendered “to stand up” is a noun, not an infinitive. It occurs only here and appears to designate someone who would take a powerful stand for them against their enemies.
