Leviticus 23:18

Context
23:18 Along with the loaves of bread, 3  you must also present seven flawless yearling lambs, 4  one young bull, 5  and two rams. 6  They are to be a burnt offering to the Lord along with their grain offering 7  and drink offerings, a gift of a soothing aroma to the Lord. 8

1 tn Or “Behold!” (so KJV, ASV, NASB); NRSV “See.”

2 tn Heb “today they presented their sin offering and their burnt offering before the Lord, and like these things have happened to me, and (if) I had eaten sin offering today would it be good in the eyes of the Lord?” The idiom “would it be good in the eyes of [the Lord]” has been translated “would [the Lord] have been pleased.” Cf. NRSV “would it have been agreeable to the Lord?”; CEV, NLT “Would the Lord have approved?”

3 tn Heb “And you shall present on the bread.”

4 tn Heb “seven flawless lambs, sons of a year.”

5 tn Heb “and one bull, a son of a herd.”

6 tc Smr and LXX add “flawless.”

7 tn Heb “and their grain offering.”

8 sn See the note on Lev 1:9.
