Joshua 8:5-6

Context
8:5 I and all the troops 1  who are with me will approach the city. When they come out to fight us like before, we will retreat from them. 8:6 They will attack 2  us until we have lured them from the city, for they will say, ‘They are retreating from us like before.’ We will retreat from them.

Joshua 10:2

Context
10:2 All Jerusalem was terrified 3  because Gibeon was a large city, like one of the royal cities. It was larger than Ai and all its men were warriors.

Joshua 10:14

Context
10:14 There has not been a day like it before or since. The Lord obeyed 4  a man, for the Lord fought for Israel!

1 tn Heb “the people.”

2 tn Heb “come out after.”

3 tn This statement is subordinated to v. 1 in the Hebrew text, which reads literally, “When Adoni-Zedek…they feared greatly.” The subject of the plural verb at the beginning of v. 2 is probably the residents of Jerusalem.

4 tn Heb “listened to the voice of.”
