tn Heb “the edge of the waters of the Jordan.” The word “River” is not in the Hebrew text, but has been supplied for clarity.

tn Heb “stand in the Jordan.” Here the repetition of the word “Jordan” would be redundant according to contemporary English style, so it was not included in the translation.

 tn Or “Lord”; or “Master.”

tn The verb, though not in the Hebrew, is added for clarification.

tn Heb “in the presence of the people.”

 tn Heb “rams’ horns, trumpets.”

tn An alternative reading is “and they said.” In this case the subject is indefinite and the verb should be translated as passive, “[the army] was told.”

 tn Heb “the people.”

 tn Heb “pass by.”

tn Heb “and he made the ark of the Lord go around the city, encircling one time.”

tn Heb “and they entered the camp and spent the night in the camp.”
