Joshua 2:24

Context
2:24 They told Joshua, “Surely the Lord is handing over all the land to us!¹ All who live in the land are cringing before us!”²

Joshua 11:23

Context
11:23 Joshua conquered³ the whole land, just as the Lord had promised Moses,⁴ and he assigned Israel their tribal portions.⁵ Then the land was free of war.

Joshua 14:3

Context
14:3 Now Moses had assigned land⁶ to the two-and-a-half tribes east of the Jordan, but he assigned no land⁷ to the Levites.⁸

Joshua 17:6

Context
17:6 for the daughters of Manasseh were assigned land among his sons. The land of Gilead belonged to the rest of the descendants of Manasseh.

¹tn Heb “Surely the Lord has given into our hand all the land.” The report by the spies uses the Hebrew perfect, suggesting certitude.

²tn Heb “are melting away because of us.”

³tn Heb “took.”

⁴tn Heb “according to all which the Lord said to Moses.” The translation assumes this refers to the promise of the land (see 1:3). Another possibility is that it refers to the Lord’s instructions, in which case the phrase could be translated, “just as the Lord had instructed Moses” (so NLT; cf. also NIV “had directed Moses”).

⁵tn Heb “and Joshua gave it for an inheritance to Israel according to their allotted portions by their tribes.”

⁶tn Or “assigned an inheritance.”

⁷tn Or “no inheritance.”

⁸tn The Hebrew text adds, “in their midst.”

displaying	set the max displaying in one page.	"20" will set displaying max to 20 per page
range	set searching range	"All Bible", "Old Testament", "New Testament"
