• [Joh 1:43] Behold, The Master Passeth By

  Behold, the Master passeth by! O seest thou not His pleading eye? With low sad voice He calleth thee, “Leave this vain world, and follow Me.” O soul, bowed down with harrowing care, Hast thou no thought for Heaven to spare? From earthly toils lift up thine eye; Behold, the Master passeth by! One heard Him calling long ago, And straightway left all things below Counting his earthly gain as loss For Jesus and His blessèd cross. That “Follow Me” his faithful ear Seemed every day afresh to hear; Its echoes stirred his spirit still, And fired his hope, and nerved his will. God gently calls us every day: Why should we then our bliss delay? Thou, Lord, e’en now art calling me; I will leave all, and follow Thee.

  O I love to walk with Jesus Like the publicans of old, When He gathered them about Him And the blessèd tidings told; How He came to bring deliverance To the captives in distress, Take away our ev’ry burden, Giving perfect peace and rest. Refrain I will follow where He leadeth; I will pasture where He feedeth. I will follow all the way, Lord. I will follow Jesus ev’ry day. O I love to walk with Jesus Like the man of long ago Who had tarried by the wayside Near the gates of Jericho, Jesus heard his cry for mercy, Gave him back his sight that day, And immediately he followed Jesus all along the way. • [Joh 1:43] Light Of God Is Falling, The

  The light of God is falling, Upon life’s common way; The Master’s voice is calling, “Come, walk with Me today”; No duty can seem lowly To him who lives with Thee, And all of life grows holy, O Christ of Galilee! Who shares his life’s pure pleasures, And walks the honest road, Who trades with heaping measures, And lifts his brother’s load, Who turns the wrong down bluntly, And lends the right a hand, He dwells in God’s own country, He tills the Holy Land. Where human lives are thronging In toil and pain and sin, While cloistered hearts are longing To bring the kingdom in, O Christ, the elder Brother Of proud and beaten men, When they have found each other, The kingdom will come then! Thy ransomed host in glory, All souls that sin and pray, Turn toward the cross that bore Thee; “Behold the Man!” they say; And while Thy church is pleading For all who would do good, We hear Thy true voice leading Our song of brotherhood.

• [Joh 7:1] Stranger Of Galilee, The

  In fancy I stood by the shore, one day, Of the beautiful murm’ring sea; I saw the great crowds as they thronged the way Of the Stranger of Galilee; I saw how the man who was blind from birth, In a moment was made to see; The lame was made whole by the matchless skill Of the Stranger of Galilee. Refrain And I felt I could love Him forever, So gracious and tender was He! I claimed Him that day as my Savior, This Stranger of Galilee. His look of compassion, His words of love, They shall never forgotten be; When sin sick and helpless He saw me there, This Stranger of Galilee; He showed me His hand and His riven side, And He whispered, “It was for thee!” My burden fell off at the piercèd feet Of the Stranger from Galilee. Refrain I heard Him speak peace to the angry waves, Of that turbulent, raging sea; And lo! at His word are the waters stilled, This Stranger of Galilee; A peaceful, a quiet, and holy calm, Now and ever abides with me; He holdeth my life in His mighty hands, This Stranger of Galilee. • [Joh 19:34] At The Lamb’s High Feast We Sing

  At the Lamb’s high feast we sing, Praise to our victorious King, Who hath washed us in the tide Flowing from his piercèd side; Praise we Him, whose love divine Gives His sacred blood for wine, Gives His body for the feast, Christ the Victim, Christ the Priest. Where the Paschal blood is poured, Death’s dark angel sheathes his sword; Israel’s hosts triumphant go Through the wave that drowns the foe. Praise we Christ, whose blood was shed, Paschal Victim, paschal Bread; With sincerity and love Eat we Manna from above. Mighty Victim from the sky, Hell’s fierce powers beneath Thee lie; Thou hast conquered in the fight, Thou hast brought us life and light; Now no more can death appall, Now no more the grave enthrall; Thou hast opened Paradise, And in Thee Thy saints shall rise. Paschal triumph, Easter joy, Only sin can this destroy; From sin’s death do Thou set free Souls reborn, O Lord, in Thee. Hymns of glory and of praise, Father, to Thee we raise; Risen Lord, all praise to Thee, Ever with the Spirit be.
