John 13:7
-
[Joh 13:7] God Moves In A Mysterious Way
God moves in a mysterious way
His wonders to perform;
He plants His footsteps in the sea
And rides upon the storm.Deep in unfathomable mines
Of never failing skill
He treasures up His bright designs
And works His sovereign will.Ye fearful saints, fresh courage take;
The clouds ye so much dread
Are big with mercy and shall break
In blessings on your head.Judge not the Lord by feeble sense,
But trust Him for His grace;
Behind a frowning providence
He hides a smiling face.His purposes will ripen fast,
Unfolding every hour;
The bud may have a bitter taste,
But sweet will be the flower.Blind unbelief is sure to err
And scan His work in vain;
God is His own interpreter,
And He will make it plain.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Joh 13:7] We’ll Understand It Better By And By
We are tossed and driv’n on the restless sea of time;
Somber skies and howling tempests oft succeed a bright sunshine;
In that land of perfect day, when the mists have rolled away,
We will understand it better by and by.Refrain
By and by, when the morning comes,
When the saints of God are gathered home,
We’ll tell the story how we’ve overcome,
For we’ll understand it better by and by.We are often destitute of the things that life demands,
Want of food and want of shelter, thirsty hills and barren lands;
We are trusting in the Lord, and according to God’s Word,
We will understand it better by and by.Refrain
Trials dark on every hand, and we cannot understand
All the ways that God could lead us to that blessèd promised land;
But He guides us with His eye, and we’ll follow till we die,
For we’ll understand it better by and by.Refrain
Temptations, hidden snares often take us unawares,
And our hearts are made to bleed for a thoughtless word or deed;
And we wonder why the test when we try to do our best,
But we’ll understand it better by and by.Refrain

John 13:35
-
[Joh 13:35] Our God Is Love
Our God is love; and all His saints
His image bear below;
The heart with love to God inspired,
With love to man will glow.O may we love each other, Lord,
As we are loved by Thee;
For none are truly born of God
Who live in enmity.Heir of the same immortal bliss,
Our hopes and fears the same,
The cords of love our hearts should bind,
The laws of love inflame.So shall the vain contentious world
Our peaceful lives approve,
And wondering say, as they of old,
“See how these Christians love.”Play source: Cyberhymnal
John 14:16
-
[Joh 14:16] Blessed Quietness
Joys are flowing like a river,
Since the Comforter has come;
He abides with us forever,
Makes the trusting heart His home.Refrain
Blessèd quietness, holy quietness,
What assurance in my soul!
On the stormy sea, He speaks peace to me,
How the billows cease to roll!Bringing life and health and gladness,
All around this heav’nly Guest,
Banished unbelief and sadness,
Changed our weariness to rest.Refrain
Like the rain that falls from Heaven,
Like the sunlight from the sky,
So the Holy Ghost is given,
Coming on us from on high.Refrain
See, a fruitful field is growing,
Blessèd fruit of righteousness;
And the streams of life are flowing
In the lonely wilderness.Refrain
What a wonderful salvation,
Where we always see His face!
What a perfect habitation,
What a quiet resting place!Refrain

[Joh 14:16] Blest Comforter Divine
Blest Comforter divine,
Whose rays of heav’nly love
Amid our gloom and darkness shine,
And guide our souls above;Thou, who with still small voice
Dost stop the sinner’s way,
And bid the mourning saint rejoice,
Though earthly joys decay;Thou, whose inspiring breath
Can make the cloud of care,
And e’en the gloomy vale of death,
A smile of glory wear;Thou, who dost fill the heart
With love to all our race;
Blest Comforter, to us impart
The blessings of Thy grace.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Joh 14:16] Come, Holy Ghost, Creator Blest
Come, Holy Ghost, Creator blest,
Vouchsafe within our souls to rest;
Come with Thy grace and heav’nly aid,
And fill the hearts which Thou hast made.To Thee, the Comforter, we cry;
To Thee, the Gift of God most high;
The Fount of life, the Fire of love,
The soul’s Anointing from above.The sev’nfold gifts of grace are Thine;
O Finger of the Hand Divine;
True Promise of the Father Thou,
Who dost the tongue with speech endow.Thy light to every sense impart,
And shed Thy love in every heart;
Thy own unfailing might supply
To strength our infirmity.source: Cyberhymnal -
[Joh 14:16] Come Holy Ghost, Eternal God
Come, Holy Ghost, eternal God,
Proceeding from above,
Both from the Father and the Son,
The God of peace and love;Visit our minds, into our hearts
Thy heav’nly grace inspire;
That truth and godliness we may
Pursue with full desire.Thou in Thy gifts art manifold;
By them Christ’s Church doth stand;
In faithful hearts Thou writ’st Thy law,
The finger of God’s hand.According to Thy promise, Lord,
Thou givest speech with grace,
That through Thy help God’s praises may
Resound in every place.O Holy Ghost, into our minds
Send down Thy heav’nly light;
Kindle our hearts with fervent zeal
To serve God day and night.Our weakness strengthen and confirm,
For, Lord, Thou know’st us frail;
That neither devil, world, nor flesh,
Against us may prevail.Put back our enemy from us,
And help us to obtain
Peace in our hearts with God and man—
The best, the truest gain;Of strife and of dissension
Dissolve, O Lord, the bands,
And knit the knots of peace and love
Throughout all Christian lands.Grant us the grace that we may know
The Father of all might,
That we of His belovèd Son
May gain the blissful sight;And that we may with perfect faith
Ever acknowledge Thee,
The Spirit of Father, and of Son,
One God in Persons Three.To God the Father laud and praise,
And to His blessèd Son,
And to the Holy Spirit of grace,
Co-equal Three in One.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Joh 14:16] Come, O Come, Thou Quickening Spirit
Come, O come, Thou quickening Spirit,
God from all eternity!
May Thy power never fail us;
Dwell within us constantly.
Then shall truth and life and light
Banish all the gloom of night.Grant our hearts in fullest measure
Wisdom, counsel, purity,
That we ever may be seeking
Only that which pleaseth Thee.
Let Thy knowledge spread and grow,
Working error’s overthrow.Show us, Lord, the path of blessing;
When we trespass on our way,
Cast, O Lord, our sins behind Thee,
And be with us day by day.
Should we stray, O Lord, recall;
Work repentance when we fall.With our spirit bear Thou witness
That we are the sons of God
Who rely upon Him solely
When we pass beneath the rod;
For we know, as children should,
That the cross is for our good.Prompt us, Lord, to come before Him
With a childlike heart to pray;
Sigh in us, O Holy Spirit,
When we know not what to say.
Then our prayer is not in vain,
And our faith new strength shall gain.If our soul can find no comfort,
If despondency grows strong,
And the heart cries out in anguish,
“Oh my God, how long, how long?”
Comfort then our aching breast,
Grant it courage, patience, rest.Holy Spirit, strong and mighty,
Thou Who makest all things new,
Make Thy work within us perfect
And the evil foe subdue.
Grant us weapons for the strife
And with victory crown our life.Guard, O God, our faith forever;
Let not Satan, death or shame
Ever part us from our Savior;
Lord our refuge is Thy Name.
Though our flesh cry ever: Nay!
Be Thy Word to us still Yea!And when life’s frail thread is breaking,
Then assure us more and more,
As the heirs of life unending,
Of the glory there in store,
Glory never yet expressed,
Glory of the saints at rest.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Joh 14:16] Come, O Creator Spirit Blest
Come, O Creator Spirit blest,
And in our souls take up Thy rest;
Come, with Thy grace and heavenly aid,
To fill the hearts which Thou hast made.Great Comforter, to Thee we cry;
O highest gift of God most high,
O Fount of life, O Fire of love,
And sweet anointing from above!The sacred sevenfold grace is Thine,
Dread finger of the hand divine;
The promise of the Father Thou,
Who dost the tongue with power endow.Kindle our senses from above,
And make our hearts o’erflow with love;
With patience firm, and virtue high,
The weakness of our flesh supply.Far from us drive the foe we dread,
And grant us Thy true peace instead;
So shall we not, with Thee for guide,
Turn from the path of life aside.O may Thy grace on us bestow
The Father and the Son to know,
And evermore to hold confessed
Thyself of each the Spirit blest.Play source: Cyberhymnal -

Come, within our bosoms shine!Thou, of comforters the best;
Thou, the soul’s most welcome Guest;
Sweet refreshment here below;
In our labor, rest most sweet;
Grateful coolness in the heat;
Solace in the midst of woe.O most blessèd Light divine,
Shine within these hearts of Thine,
And our inmost being fill!
Where Thou art not, man hath naught,
Nothing good in deed or thought,
Nothing free from taint of ill.Heal our wounds, our strength renew;
On our dryness pour Thy dew;
Wash the stains of guilt away;
Bend the stubborn heart and will;
Melt the frozen, warm the chill;
Guide the steps that go astray.On the faithful, who adore
And confess Thee, evermore
In Thy sev’nfold gift descend;
Give them virtue’s sure reward
Give them Thy salvation, Lord;
Give them joys that never end.Play source: Cyberhymnal -

Guide, subdue our wayward will,
Things of Christ unfolding still,

There Thy presence be confessed,
Comforter divine.With us, for us, intercede,
And, with voiceless groanings, plead
Our unutterable need,
Comforter Divine.In us “Abba, Father!” cry,

Seal of immortality,

John 17:3
-
[Joh 17:3] Forever With The Lord
“Forever with the Lord!”
Amen, so let it be!
Life from His death is in that word
’Tis immortality.
Here in the body pent,
Absent from Him I roam,
Yet nightly pitch my moving tent
A day’s march nearer homeMy Father’s house on high,
Home of my soul, how near
At times to faith’s foreseeing eye
Thy golden gates appear!
Ah! then my spirit faints
To reach the land I love,
The bright inheritance of saints,
Jerusalem above.Yet clouds will intervene,
And all my prospect flies;
Like Noah’s dove, I flit between
Rough seas and stormy skies.
Anon the clouds depart,
The winds and waters cease,
While sweetly o’er my gladdened heart
Expands the bow of peace.I hear at morn and even,
At noon and midnight hour,
The choral harmonies of Heaven
Earth’s Babel tongues o’erpower;
Then, then I feel that He,
Remembered or forgot,
The Lord, is never far from me,
Though I perceive Him not.“Forever with the Lord!”
Forever in His will,
The promise of that faithful word,
Lord, here in me fulfill.
With You at my right hand,
Then I shall never fail;
Uphold me, Lord, and I shall stand,
Through grace I will prevail.So when my latest breath
Breaks through the veil of pain,
By death I shall escape from death,
And life eternal gain.
That resurrection word,
That shout of victory:
Once more, “Forever with the Lord!”
Amen, so let it be!Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Joh 17:3] Thou True And Only God
Thou, true and only God, lead’st forth
Th’immortal armies of the sky;
Thou laugh’st to scorn the gods of earth,
Thou thunderest, and amazed they fly.With downcast eye th’angelic choir
Appear before Thy awful face;
Trembling they strike the golden lyre,
And through Heav’n’s vault resound Thy praise,In earth, in Heaven, in all Thou art;
The conscious creature feels Thy nod,
Whose forming hand on every part
Impressed the image of its God.Thine, Lord, is wisdom, Thine alone;
Justice and truth before Thee stand;
Yet, nearer to Thy sacred throne,
Mercy withholds Thy lifted hand.Each evening shows Thy tender love,
Each rising morn Thy plenteous grace
Thy wakened wrath doth slowly move,
Thy willing mercy flies apace.To Thy benign indulgent care,
Father, this light, this breath we owe;
And all we have, and all we are,
From Thee, great Source of being, flow.Parent of good, Thy bounteous hand
Incessant blessings down distils,
And all in air, or sea, or land,
With plenteous food and gladness fills.All things in Thee live, move, and are,
Thy power infused doth all sustain;
E’en those Thy daily favors share
Who thankless spurn Thy easy reign.Thy sun Thou bidd’st his genial ray
Alike on all impartial pour;
To all, who hate or bless Thy sway,
Thou bidd’st descend the fruitful shower.Yet, while at length who scorned Thy might
Shall feel Thee a consuming fire,
How sweet the joys, the crown how bright,
Of those who to Thy love aspire!All creatures, praise th’eternal Name!
Ye hosts that to His court belong,
Cherubic choirs, seraphic flames,
Awake the everlasting song!Thrice Holy! Thine the kingdom is,
The power omnipotent is Thine,
And when created nature dies,
Thy never-ceasing glories shine.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Joh 17:3] We Believe In One True God
We believe in one true God, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost,
Ever present help in need, praised by all the heavenly host;
By Whose mighty power alone all is made and wrought and done.We believe in Jesus Christ, Son of God and Mary’s Son,
Who descended from His throne and for us salvation won;
By Whose cross and death are we rescued from sin’s misery.We confess the Holy Ghost, who from both forever proceeds;
Who upholds and comforts us in all trials, fears and needs.
Blessed and Holy Trinity, praise forever be to Thee!Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Joh 17:3] In One True God We All Believe
In one true God we all believe,
And to His Name all glory give,
Creator of all things is He
In the Heav’n, the earth, the sea.We all believe in God’s own Son,
Our Lord, the sole begotten One;
And by the Holy Ghost the same
Of a virgin man became.By Pontius Pilate crucified,
He suffered on the tree and died;
To show of Satan’s reign the end,
He did into hell descend.The same Lord Christ of Nazareth
Who for all sinners tasted death
The third day after He had died
Rose with body glorified.In full accord with God’s own Word
This holy body of our Lord,
Although in death’s firm grasp it be,
Never would corruption see.He then ascended into Heaven,
Where endless power to Him was given;
And there for us in all our needs
Graciously He intercedes.From thence He’ll come, as once He said
To judge the living and the dead.
O righteous Judge, our Savior, come,
Take us to our heavenly home!We all confess the Holy Ghost,
Who guides the Church, a chosen host,
And binds the saints in purest love
Here on earth and there above.And to this truth we also cleave,
That we forgiveness do receive,
True peace and joy and comfort sweet,
Daily from the Paraclete.From death our bodies shall arise
To endless life beyond the skies;
By grace through Jesus we shall rest
There in Heaven, forever blest.Play source: Cyberhymnal
