Jeremiah 5:21

Context

5:21 Tell them: ‘Hear this,

you foolish people who have no understanding,

who have eyes but do not discern,

who have ears but do not perceive: 1

Jeremiah 14:6

Context

14:6 Wild donkeys stand on the hilltops

and pant for breath like jackals.

Their eyes are strained looking for food,

because there is none to be found.” 2

Jeremiah 39:7

Context
39:7 Then he had Zedekiah’s eyes put out and had him bound in chains 3  to be led off to Babylon.

1 tn Heb “they have eyes but they do not see, they have ears but they do not hear.”

2 tn Heb “their eyes are strained because there is no verdure.”

3 tn Heb “fetters of bronze.” The more generic “chains” is used in the translation because “fetters” is a word unfamiliar to most modern readers.
