Jeremiah 5:2

Context

5:2 These people make promises in the name of the Lord.¹

But the fact is,² what they swear to is really a lie.”³

Jeremiah 5:9

Context

5:9 I will surely punish them for doing such things!” says the Lord.

“I will surely bring retribution on such a nation as this!”⁴

¹tn Heb “Though they say, ‘As surely as the Lord lives.” The idea of “swear on oath” comes from the second line.

²tc The translation follows many Hebrew mss and the Syriac version in reading “surely” (אָכֵן, ’akhen) instead of “therefore” (לָכֵן, lakhen) in the MT.

tn Heb “Surely.”

³tn Heb “they swear falsely.”

⁴tn Heb “Should I not punish them…? Should I not bring retribution…?” The rhetorical questions have the force of strong declarations.

start	search for verses that contains words that start with the search words	"fis" will search for verses that contains words start with "fis", the result will be "fish", "fishing", "fisherman", etc
similar	search for verses that contains words that similar in spelling to the search words.	"fish" will search verses that contain words which has similar spelling with fish. The result: "dish",etc
displaying	set the max displaying in one page.	"20" will set displaying max to 20 per page
range	set searching range	"All Bible", "Old Testament", "New Testament"
