Jeremiah 17:12

Context
Jeremiah Appeals to the Lord for Vindication

17:12 Then I said, 1

Lord, from the very beginning

you have been seated on your glorious throne on high.

You are the place where we can find refuge.

Jeremiah 37:1

Context
Introduction to Incidents During the Reign of Zedekiah

37:1 Zedekiah son of Josiah succeeded Jeconiah 2  son of Jehoiakim as king. He was elevated to the throne of the land of Judah by King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon. 3

1 tn The words, “Then I said” are not in the text. They are supplied in the translation for clarity to show the shift in speaker.

sn The Lord is no longer threatening judgment but is being addressed. For a similar doxological interruption compare Jer 16:19-20.

2 tn Heb “Coniah.” For explanation of the rendering here see the translator’s note on 22:4.

3 tn Heb “And Zedekiah son of Josiah whom Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon made king in the land of Judah ruled as king instead of Coniah son of Jehoiakim.” The sentence has been restructured and simplified to better conform to contemporary English style.
