Judges 6:22

6:22 When Gideon realized 1  that it was the Lord’s messenger, he 2  said, “Oh no! 3  Master, Lord! 4  I have seen the Lord’s messenger face to face!”

Judges 19:12

19:12 But his master said to him, “We should not stop at a foreign city where non-Israelites live. 5  We will travel on to Gibeah.”

Judges 19:26

19:26 The woman arrived back at daybreak and was sprawled out on the doorstep of the house where her master 6  was staying until it became light. 7 

1 tn Heb “saw.”

2 tn Heb “Gideon.” The proper name has been replaced by the pronoun (“he”) in the translation for stylistic reasons.

3 tn Or “Ah!”

4 tn The Hebrew text reads אֲדֹנַי יְהוִה (’adonay yÿhvih, “Lord [the same title used in v. 15], Lord”).

5 tn Heb “who are not from the sons of Israel.”

6 tn The Hebrew term here translated “master,” is plural. The plural indicates degree here and emphasizes the Levite’s absolute sovereignty over the woman.

7 tn Heb “The woman came at the turning of the morning and fell at the door of the house of the man where her master was until the light.”
