Judges 6:19

Context

6:19 Gideon went and prepared a young goat, 1  along with unleavened bread made from an ephah of flour. He put the meat in a basket and the broth in a pot. He brought the food 2  to him under the oak tree and presented it to him.

Judges 9:49

Context
9:49 So each of his men also cut off a branch and followed Abimelech. They put the branches 3  against the stronghold and set fire to it. 4  All the people 5  of the Tower of Shechem died – about a thousand men and women.

Judges 11:35

11:35 When he saw her, he ripped his clothes and said, “Oh no! My daughter! You have completely ruined me! 6  You have brought me disaster! 7  I made an oath to the Lord, and I cannot break it.” 8 

1 tn Heb “a kid from among the goats.”

2 tn The words “the food” are not in the Hebrew text (an implied direct object). They are supplied in the translation for clarification and for stylistic reasons.

3 tn The words “the branches” are supplied in the translation for clarification.

4 tn Heb “they kindled over them the stronghold with fire.”

5 tn Or “men,” but the word seems to have a more general sense here, as the conclusion to the sentence suggests.

6 tn Heb “you have brought me very low,” or “you have knocked me to my knees.” The infinitive absolute precedes the verb for emphasis.

7 tn Heb “You are among [or “like”] those who trouble me.”

8 tn Heb “I opened my mouth to the Lord and I am not able to return.”
