Judges 3:28

Judges 5:31

Context

5:31 May all your enemies perish like this, O Lord!

But may those who love you shine

like the rising sun at its brightest!” 4

And the land had rest for forty years.

Judges 11:36

Context
11:36 She said to him, “My father, since 5  you made an oath to the Lord, do to me as you promised. 6  After all, the Lord vindicated you before 7  your enemies, the Ammonites.”

1 tn Heb “for the Lord has given your enemies, Moab, into your hand.” The verb form (a Hebrew perfect, indicating completed action from the standpoint of the speaker) emphasizes the certainty of the event. Though it had not yet taken place, the Lord speaks of it as a “done deal.”

2 tn The word “River” is not in the Hebrew text, but is supplied for clarity.

3 tn Or “against Moab,” that is, so as to prevent the Moabites from crossing.

4 tn Heb “But may those who love him be like the going forth of the sun in its strength.”

5 tn The conjunction “since” is supplied in the translation for clarification.

6 tn Heb “you opened your mouth to the Lord, do to me according to [what] went out from your mouth.”

7 tn Or “has given you vengeance against.”
