14:4 Now his father and mother did not realize this was the Lord’s doing, 1  because he was looking for an opportunity to stir up trouble with the Philistines 2  (for at that time the Philistines were ruling Israel).

Judges 16:20

16:20 She said, “The Philistines are here, 3  Samson!” He woke up 4  and thought, 5  “I will do as I did before 6  and shake myself free.” But he did not realize that the Lord had left him.

Judges 20:34

Context
20:34 Ten thousand men, well-trained soldiers from all Israel, then made a frontal assault against Gibeah – the battle was fierce. 7  But the Benjaminites did not realize that disaster was at their doorstep. 8

4 tn The Hebrew adds, “from his sleep.” This has not been included in the translation for stylistic reasons.

8 tn Heb “And they did not know that touching against them was disaster.”
