1:26 He 1  moved to Hittite country and built a city. He named it Luz, and it has kept that name to this very day.

Judges 13:24

Context

13:24 Manoah’s wife 2  gave birth to a son and named him Samson. 3  The child grew and the Lord empowered 4  him.

Judges 18:29

Context
18:29 They named it Dan after their ancestor, who was one of Israel’s sons. 5  But the city’s name used to be Laish.

2 tn Heb “the woman.” For clarity this has been specified in the translation as “Manoah’s wife.”

3 tn The name appears to mean “sun-like” or “solar.”

4 tn Traditionally, “blessed.”

5 tn Heb “They called the name of the city Dan, after the name of Dan their father, who had been born to Israel.”
