• [Isa 6:2] Before His Eye

  Faces covered, wings resplendent, Seraphim before Him bow! Angels tremble, martyrs weep, and saints perfected praise Him now! Holy is the angels’ Maker, He who spread His stars in the skies. Holy is the Judge of Creation, all lies bare before His eyes! Woe is me, for I am ruined! For my eyes have seen the King! Robed in righteousness, and holy: Hear the Voice of Judgment ring! All unclean, my lips, my spirit, vile and foul in all I do! All corrupt, my heart within me, wretched, wicked through and through! Every hope I must abandon! Guilty, I await His stroke. Now must come His righteous sentence: Wait! A Bright Form parts the smoke! Bleeding feet stride through the temple! Christ approaches, weeping love! Wounded hands remove my filthiness, God’s caress in every move. Freely righteous! Full atonement! Justified, from sin set free! By the Word of God the Father, I’m declared as pure as HE! At the Cross, His wounds acquit me! Fatal wounds proclaim His praise! And the Empty Tomb sings His glories: Justice is assuaged by Grace!

• [Isa 40:2] Safe Home, Safe Home In Port!

  Safe home, safe home in port! Rent cordage, shattered deck, Torn sails, provisions short, And only not a wreck; But oh! the joy upon the shore To tell our voyage—perils o’er! The prize, the prize secure! The athlete nearly fell; Bare all he could endure, And bare not always well; But he may smile at troubles gone Who sets the victor-garland on. No more the foe can harm; No more of leaguered camp, And cry of night alarm, And need of ready lamp; And yet how nearly he had failed— How nearly had that foe prevailed! The lamb is in the fold, In perfect safety penned; The lion once had hold, And thought to make an end; But One came by with wounded side, And for the sheep the Shepherd died. The exile is at home! O nights and days of tears, O longings not to roam, O sins and doubts and fears; What matters now grief’s darkest day? The King has wiped those tears away

  Through the love of God our Savior, All will be well; Free and changeless is His favor; All, all is well. Precious is the blood that healed us; Perfect is the grace that sealed us; Strong the hand stretched out to shield us; All must be well. Though we pass through tribulation, All will be well; Ours is such a full salvation; All, all is well. Happy still in God confiding, Fruitful, if in Christ abiding, Holy through the Spirit’s guiding, All must be well. We expect a bright tomorrow; All will be well; Faith can sing through days of sorrow, All, all is well. On our Father’s love relying, Jesus every need supplying, Or in living, or in dying, All must be well.

  In the crimson of the morning, In the whiteness of the noon, In the amber glory of the day’s retreat; In the midnight robed in darkness, Or the gleaming of the moon, I listen for the coming of His feet. I have heard His weary footsteps By the Galilean sea, On the Temple’s marble pavement, on the street; Worn with weight of sorrow, falt’ring Up the slopes of Calvary, The sorrow of the coming of His feet. Down the minster aisles of splendor, From between the cherubim, Thro’ the wond’ring throngs with motion strong and fleet, Sounds His victor tread, with music, Of redemption’s choral hymn, The music of the coming of His feet. Comes He sandaled not with silver, Gilded not with woven gold, Weighted not with shimm’ring gems and odors sweet; But white-winged and shod with glory, In the Tabor-light of old, The glory of the coming of His feet. He is coming, O my spirit, With His everlasting peace, With His blessedness immortal and complete; He is coming, O my spirit, And His coming brings release, I listen for the coming of His feet.

  A perfect path of purest grace, Unblemished and complete, Was Thine, Thou spotless Nazarite, Pure, even to the feet. Thy stainless life, Thy lovely walk, In every aspect true, From the defilement all around, No taint of evil drew. No broken service, Lord was Thine, No change was in Thy way; Unsullied in Thy holiness, Thy strength knew no decay.   How beauteous are their feet Who stand on Zion’s hill! Who bring salvation on their tongues, And words of peace reveal! How charming is their voice!
