• [Isa 52:1] Triumphant Zion! Lift Thy Head

  Triumphant Zion! lift thy head From dust and darkness, and the dead! Though humbled long, awake at length, And gird thee with thy Savior’s strength, And gird thee with thy Savior’s strength. Put all thy beauteous garments on, And let thy excellence be known: Decked in the robes of righteousness, The world thy glories shall confess, The world thy glories shall confess. No more shall foes unclean invade, And fill thy hallowed walls with dread: No more shall hell’s insulting host Their victory and thy sorrows boast, Their victory and thy sorrows boast. God from on high has heard thy prayer; His hand thy ruin shall repair: Nor will thy watchful Monarch cease To guard thee in eternal peace, To guard thee in eternal peace.

  Awake, Jerusalem, awake! No longer in thy sins lie down; The garment of salvation take, Thy beauty and thy strength put on. Shake off the dust that blinds thy sight, And hides the promise from thine eyes; Arise, and struggle into light, The great Deliverer calls: Arise! Shake off the bands of sad despair; Zion, assert thy liberty; Look up, thy broken heart prepare, And God shall set the captive free. Vessels of mercy, sons of grace, Be purged from every sinful stain, Be like your Lord, His Word embrace, Nor bear His hallowed Name in vain.

  Daughter of Zion, from the dust Exalt thy fallen head; Again in thy Redeemer trust; He calls thee from the dead. Awake, awake, put on thy strength, Thy beautiful array; The day of freedom dawns at length The Lord’s appointed day. Rebuild thy walls, thy bounds enlarge, And send thy heralds forth; Say to the South, “Give up thy charge!” And “Keep not back, O North!” They come, they come; thine exiled bands, Where’er they rest or roam, Have heard thy voice in distant lands, And hasten to their home. Thus, though the universe shall burn, And God His works destroy, With songs thy ransomed shall return, And everlasting joy.

  Jerusalem, arise, The heavenly glory view; The light is come, lift up thine eyes, All things are now made new. Now ended is the reign Of error’s gloomy night: The Sun of heaven appears again And beams celestial light. Now living waters flow To cheer the humble soul: From sea to sea the rivers go, And bless where’er they roll. Jesus shall rule alone, The world shall hear His Word; By one blest Name shall He be known, The universal Lord.
