Isaiah 42:4

Context

42:4 He will not grow dim or be crushed 1 

before establishing justice on the earth;

the coastlands 2  will wait in anticipation for his decrees.” 3 

Isaiah 59:11

Context

59:11 We all growl like bears,

we coo mournfully like doves;

we wait for deliverance, 4  but there is none,

for salvation, but it is far from us.

Isaiah 64:4

Context

64:4 Since ancient times no one has heard or perceived, 5 

no eye has seen any God besides you,

who intervenes for those who wait for him.

1 tn For rhetorical effect the terms used to describe the “crushed (רָצַץ, ratsats) reed” and “dim (כָּהָה, kahah) wick” in v. 3 are repeated here.
