Isaiah 39:6

39:6 ‘Look, a time is coming when everything in your palace and the things your ancestors 1  have accumulated to this day will be carried away to Babylon; nothing will be left,’ says the Lord.

42:10 Sing to the Lord a brand new song!

Praise him 2  from the horizon of the earth,

you who go down to the sea, and everything that lives in it, 3

2 tn Heb “his praise.” The phrase stands parallel to “new song” in the previous line.

3 tn Heb “and its fullness”; NASB, NIV “and all that is in it.”

4 tn Or “islands” (NASB, NIV); NLT “distant coastlands.”

5 tn Heb “your redeemer.” See the note at 41:14.

6 tn The consonantal text (Kethib) has “Who [was] with me?” The marginal reading (Qere) is “from with me,” i.e., “by myself.” See BDB 87 s.v. II אֵת 4.c.

7 tn The words “each one says” are supplied in the translation for clarification.
