Isaiah 3:10

3:10 Tell the innocent 1  it will go well with them, 2 

for they will be rewarded for what they have done. 3

2 tn Heb “that it is good.”

3 tn Heb “for the fruit of their deeds they will eat.”

4 tn The Hebrew term translated “sovereign master” here and in vv. 8, 16 is אֲדֹנָי (’adonay).

5 tc The form הֲדוּרִים (hadurim) makes little, if any, sense here. It is probably a corruption of an original הָרָרִים (hararim, “mountains”), the reduplicated form of הָר (har, “mountain”).

6 tn That is, on the gates. Cf. CEV “break the iron bars on bronze gates.”

7 tn Heb “who is stooped over” (under a burden).

8 tn Heb “the pit” (so KJV); ASV, NAB “die and go down into the pit”; NASB, NIV “dungeon”; NCV “prison.”

9 tn Heb “he will not lack his bread.”
